Services & Techniques

At Achieving Health Chiropractic we take great pride in providing the finest chiropractic wellness care to our patients. Below is a sampling of the different chiropractic and massage services we offer in our Plymouth office.

Chiropractic Care

We are both trained in a number of different adjusting techniques that we can use to ensure patient comfort while improving your condition. Chiropractic adjusting involves first placing the patient in a specific set-up position. Depending on the joint to be adjusted the set-up position may have the patient lying on their stomach, back, side or sitting up. The doctor then applies a preload force to the joint in question with the hand. A very quick short thrust is then applied by the doctor to the joint. This thrust imparts movement in the joint which may or may not result in an audible click or pop sound. Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to relieve pain, relax muscles, and increase movement.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy does more than make you feel good, it can actually help your body achieve balance and health. Massage therapy offers a natural  treatment approach which actually relieves musculature pain for many patients. Our chiropractic office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is complimentary to their chiropractic care. Each massage therapy plan is tailored to meet the patient's unique pain condition or injury. The benefits of massage therapy may include the increase of blood circulation, a localized reduction in swelling and the relaxation of muscles. Massage has been known to relieve muscle pain and spasms, increase a patient's range of motion, while also aiding in a patient's recovery. Some investigative studies have even indicated that a single session of massage may help boost your immune system!

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Custom Orthotics

Custom-made orthotics are orthopedic devices that support and gently reposition the heel, arch, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones in the feet, enabling these structures to work together as nature intended, to make each step you take pain-free.

Custom made orthotics are molded from a cast of your foot so that they fit exactly to your foot's contours to treat your specific problem. Orthotics work to realign joints of the foot by providing support where needed, improving muscle and joint balance and increasing the shock absorbing ability of your feet. If overpronation is the problem the custom orthotic is molded to increase the instep arch and provide increased rigidity to the foot. If oversupination is the problem then the orthotic is designed to absorb more of the forces acting on the feet.

Spinal & Postural Screenings

Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being. We provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment. Contact us today to arrange a screening at your event or workplace.

Physiotherapy

Electric Stimulation Therapy

Electric Stimulation is used for alleviating pain, reduce spasms, strengthen muscles, and improve circulation and range of motion. Electrical stimulation therapy has also been used to treat a variety of conditions from sprains, strains, arthritis, sciatica, tension caused by stress, fibromyalgia and scoliosis.

Pain Relief

Muscle stimulation therapy can relieve painful joints and muscles as well as pain from stress and tension. People who suffer with fibromyalgia are also finding pain relief with regular electrical stimulation treatments for symptoms that include chronic headaches, muscle weakness and fatigue and overall bodily aches and pain. Some fibromyalgia patients also report alleviation of chronic insomnia after regular use of muscle stimulation therapy

Improved Range of Motion

Many times sports related injuries result in impeded range of motion in joints such as the shoulders, elbows and knees. Muscle stimulation therapy applied directly to the affected joint can improve range of motion and promote healing in the injured area by reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow. Arthritis sufferers also tend to have restricted range of motion in tender and inflamed joints. Electrical stimulation therapy helps arthritic joints move more freely in addition to reducing arthritis related pain and inflammation

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound is proven to get amazing results when used to minimize muscle pain or quicken the healing time of certain soft tissue (muscle, tendons, and ligaments) injuries. The treatments can also help reduce stiffness, swelling, and pain, increase pain-free movement while breaking down scar tissue.

Ultrasound therapy is a painless procedure, and many people find it relaxing. Ultrasound is applied using a wand or probe put in direct contact with the skin. It uses the sound waves to deliver deep heat to the treated tissues though usually no heat will be felt by the patient. This results in internal warming to the area as well as increased circulation.
