Dr J.R. Muldoon
Chiropractic care has been an integral part of my health since age 5, but my true passion for the healing art began a few months before graduating from college. I was attending the University of Michigan, obtaining my bachelors in movement science in addition to participating on the varsity wrestling team. While wrestling, I observed multiple teammates undergoing surgery and injuries throughout their career. I had plans to become a physical therapist until participating in an internship with my childhood chiropractor. After a few days of interning, my life’s plan quickly changed. I realized the importance of chiropractic and its ability to not only offer an alternative, but also prevent injuries and surgery.
The ability to help patients naturally without the aid of drugs or surgery absolutely amazed me. I began to reflect on my own life experiences and how powerful chiropractic truly is. The treatment that I received while growing up allowed me to live a healthier life free from any surgeries or serious illnesses. I wrestled for over 12 years only experiencing bumps and bruises, while fellow wrestlers were undergoing knee, shoulder, and even disc fusion surgery. Shortly after my internship I began visiting multiple chiropractic schools and found Life University in Marietta, Georgia. During school I heard so many amazing stories of chiropractic helping with issues other than headaches, back or neck pain. Documented case studies on chiropractic support improvements with asthma, ear infections, thoracic outlet syndrome, torticollis, and much more. At school I constantly found myself divulging deeper into the wonders of the human body and its relation to chiropractic. This led me to join the Chiropractic Functional Neurology Club at Life.
Nearing the completion of my Doctorate of Chiropractic, I was not satisfied with the amount specialized training I received in neurological disorders, so I enrolled in The Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies. Carrick’s neurology diplomat will allow me to treat various neurologic disorders utilizing adjustments, exercises, and other therapies, opposed to drugs or surgery. Some of the various neurologic topics treated are autism, ADD, dyslexia, Parkinson’s, stroke victims, tremors and much more. As a licensed Chiropractor I have had the opportunity to treat patients for the past 2 years and am eager to complete my education in order to become a Chiropractic Neurologist in the near future.
